Kenya is set to host the Continental Rafting Championships in Sagana from 5th to 7th July 2026, bringing together more than 18 African nations in a landmark sporting event for the continent.

The championship presents a significant opportunity for African teams as the sport of rafting advances toward inclusion in the Olympic Games under the International Olympic Committee (IOC). This continental event will serve as a critical platform for African countries to position themselves competitively and prepare for the anticipated Olympic challenge.

Sagana is widely recognized as one of the premier rafting destinations in Africa and globally, offering world-class courses suitable for all major rafting disciplines, including:

  1. Rafting Slalom
  2. Rafting Sprint
  3. RX (Head-to-Head)
  4. Downriver Rafting

In addition to the competitive disciplines, Kenya also hosts Classic and Adventure Rafting events under the United Rafting banner, further demonstrating the country’s commitment to developing the sport at both elite and grassroots levels.

The Kenya Rafting Federation looks forward to welcoming African nations to Sagana for a championship that will elevate the sport across the continent and strengthen Africa’s presence on the global rafting stage.
