For the first time in history, the International Rafting Federation (IRF) and the World Rafting Federation (WRF) are officially folding and merging to form a new unified governing body: United Rafting.

Beginning 21st April 2026, more than 65 national federations across five continents—North America, South America, Africa, Europe, and Oceania—will participate in electing the inaugural President of United Rafting.

Among the top contenders for the presidency is Danillo Barmez of Italy.

Africa has put forward William Kariuki Mwangi, the current Secretary General of the Kenya Rafting Federation, as a candidate for a board position in this prestigious new global body.

The Kenya Rafting Federation proudly supports his candidacy as he represents not only Kenya but also the African continent in these landmark elections.

📍 A Historic Election Event

The elections will take place in Pau, France, on 21st April 2026, marking the beginning of a new era under United Rafting.

This moment is especially historic as United Rafting embarks on a journey toward recognition by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), a major step toward potentially including rafting in the Olympic Games.
