The selected Kenya Rafting team stands a better chance of scooping a medal in the upcoming African Championship at the World Series, according to Zeno Martini, coach.
“For sure, for the African Championship, they could do very well and get good results, as opposed in the World Cup Series where teams are more experienced and competitive.”
“This will be a very big step for them to learn a lot and gain experience.” Zeno, coach.
Team Kenya boasts of being composed largely of young athletes who are under the age of 23.
“The young athletes are better, they will help build the sport since they have time to grow and improve. They are in a better position to learn something new,” said Zeno Martini, coach.
The coach has been with the team for the last two weeks, imparting new skills and techniques to the team.
“We have done a lot of training, 3–4 hours in the morning and 3–4 hours in the evening. We want to focus on the progression of the team. They are motivated and improving well. They concentrate, they are focused on the goal, and they have changed a lot. I am very happy.”
“I have seen a lot of potential and, in particular, the team is motivated and wants to train,” added Zeno Martini, coach.
Some of the African teams that will be taking part are Zimbabwe, Morocco, Uganda, Burundi, Rwanda, Ethiopia, DR Congo, South Sudan, Nigeria, Sudan, among others.
