Kenya Rafting Federation (KRF) concluded a 5 days training of different levels of rafting guides from 19th to 23rd October 2026, ranging from Level 1 – beginner guides, Level 2 – upcoming guides and Level 3 – White Water River Guides. This was a significant milestone to Kenyans who had never had an opportunity to be certified because this was a preserved-of-a-few. Over 47 guides were trained in the one week program at the Rapids Camp and issued with their participating certificates, been the largest cohort of trainers in Africa after the unification of Word Rafting Federation (WRF) and International Rafting Federation (IRF). This was only possible by the support of the bottom-up economic transformation agenda of President Ruto’s government and United Rafting vision to expand Rafting globally. The agenda of Kenyan government is to certify skilled labour from the lowest level of education to the highest. The KRF President Ms June Muthoni commended all attendees for the important milestone and said that KRF has come to age and now we have Rafting Standards in Kenya. This standards will apply to both competitive and recreational sports(commercial rafting). In attendance were Jeroen Mirrer from the Netherlands, helping Kenya to set the standards, SG William Kinuthia KRF Secretary General, Abraham Kipletin CEO and Ibrahim Mwangi KRF treasurer. The KRF President stated that with the GTE and the bottom-up economic transformation agenda of President Ruto’s government, training of guides will continue as empowering Kenyans with skills is the only way to development.
