Team Kenya added eight more medals to its growing tally on the second day of the Rafting World Cup Series currently taking place at Rapids Camp Sagana in Murang’a County.

In the World Cup RX (Rafting Cross) event, Kenya’s men’s team won a bronze medal behind silver medalists Italy and champions the Czech Republic. Kenya’s women’s team also secured a bronze medal, finishing behind Neutral Athletes (Russia), who claimed silver, and Italy, who took gold. The results underline Kenya’s steady growth in the sport, with continued exposure to international competition expected to make the team even more competitive in the future.
In the Para Rafting category, Team Kenya earned a silver medal behind Italy, the only other competitor, which claimed gold.

In the African Championships, Kenya maintained its dominance in both the men’s and women’s categories. The Kenyan women’s teams produced a clean sweep by occupying the top five positions. In the men’s race, Kenya won gold and bronze, while Morocco claimed silver. In the mixed category, Uganda emerged as the surprise winners, taking gold, with Kenya settling for silver and bronze respectively. Kenya also fielded the only para rafting team in the African Championships, automatically securing the gold medal in that category.

The competition concludes on Saturday, 11 July, with the Slalom event, where all 61 teams will battle for the final honours of the 2026 Rafting World Cup Series. A total of 18 countries are competing in the World Cup, while 35 countries are represented across the overall event.
